Adventure Week comes to a close…

First of all, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU to everyone who put in hours contributing to an adventure, even if you didn’t finish. The product has never been the point – exercising your creative muscles and team building to collaborate is what I think we’re getting out of this, and I hope you all have gotten a taste and want more. I know I do.

With that, i am officially closing Adventure Week 2010, and sending out the submitted entries to our Judges. I was thrilled to see such great work come in, and I hope you all enjoy sampling this creative work. I’ll be posting the 2010 collection when the judging is complete.

Thanks again everyone: participants, supporters, and everyone else who heard about it and said “neat idea!” I couldn’t have done this without you.

Adventure Week Prelude: Print Design

Show Notes – 7/4/2010

This is being posted a little bit late for Adventure Week proper, but I’m also extending the deadline to permit folks to get their adventures in — I know there are at least two outstanding that I really want to see involved in this (I’m looking at you Martian Bob and Johnny G)…and what with the site getting hacked, I had a lot less time than I expected to work on my own contribution as well. So, enjoy the episode, pick those creativity hats back up, and knock those adventures out!

An amalgam of the printed word that you need to send to print.

Adventure Week Prelude: Project Management

Show Notes – 6/24/2010

Planning Stage
- Outline the adventure
- Members should know their own tasks
- Set mini deadlines; get feedback early.

The Work
- Schedule the time to work on your tasks
- Try to meet your mini-deadlines, do the riskiest thing first and make sure things are on-track.

Check-in Meetings
- Check in with your team frequently
- Have quick updates from each member, even if to say nothing is done yet.
- Helps keep team members motivated, and let you get started on new tasks early if you’re already finished.

Common Mistakes in Production
- Not having roles filled
- Playtest it, because something is likely to be wrong the first time.
