Judge’s Bench, Ellicott City, MD
Last night I visited Judge’s Bench, a pub in Ellicott City, MD.
I joined one of my old friends from school, her husband and some friends of theirs for a nice pub night. Wow, this place is spectacular! An amazing tap, super-knowledgable bartenders, and the good company didn’t hurt either. I highly recommend this stop to anyone looking for good beer in this area. My tasting notes are below.
Hopfish IPA
Eenh. Flavor is decent, but dies quickly, and the body is lacking. Not a terrible choice, but not so much of an IPA as a bitter. Not really what I was looking for.
Avery DuganA IPA
Wowie Zowie! I didn’t even know this was a double IPA until this morning — in a good way. Super delicious, and definitely something I’d drink regularly. It’s a wonderful kick in the pants at 8.50% ABV.
The Raven Special Lager
YUM! Perfect beer to end the night with; a super-tasty lager that was full bodied and tasted like a really good cracker. Precisely what a lager should be doing. I’d session this beer any night.
I also had the chance to pitch one of my upcoming projects for next year, and now there’s more promised help on board. This is probably the biggest project I’ve ever started planning – and it’s terrifying. More on that soon.
